Flora and Fauna by Arely A and Jonathan L

Today we went on an amazing hike to the top of Mt. Young. On the way there, we learned about many new organisms such as the smooth-barked tree called Madrone. Many of the plant life we learned about were identified on the way to the top. We saw leafy ferns, enormous Douglas Fir, picturesque wild berries, broad-leafed maples, and many more awesome organisms. On our way to the top, it smelled like a wet and rainy day. It was not as hard to hike as it is in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Mt. Young at about 900ft is small to the whooping Pikes Peak. The hike was amazing, and the view at the top and on the way was breath-taking.
